Cannabinoids

What are cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are naturally occurring compounds in the cannabis plant. The main psychoactive ingredient in cannabis is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9-THC).

Other cannabinoids include:

  • Tetrahydrocannabinol acid (THCA) • Non-psychoactive until heated.
  • Tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV) Psychoactive compound found mostly in cannabis sativa strains.
  • Cannabidiol (CBD) Non-intoxicating compound found both in cannabis and hemp.
  • Cannabichromene (CBC) Non-intoxicating compound. CBC stems from CBGA. Both THC and CBD also stem from CBGA.
  • Cannabigerol (CBG) Non-psychoactive known as “the mother of all cannabinoids”. The first compound to develop, it all starts with CBG.
  • Cannabinol (CBN)  Non-intoxicating compound found in aged cannabis, CBN is thought to be sedating. However, more studies are required.
